Since 2016

A mind blowing trip to Japan in early 2016 was the catalyst for a project that was bubbling away back in the UK. KURO was eventually released to the market in late 2016.

We visited bustling urban mega-cities and rural coutryside and snowy mountains. It was the awe-inspiring mountainous region of Hakuba that inspired the liquid development, whilst the urbanised cities inspired the brand and bottle design.

We started on the development of our liquid as soon as we returned. knowing how important it is to get fantastic spirits to the market we sought consultation from some of the biggest names in the industry.

Eventually, developing our final recipe with the renowned Rob Dorsett, to include Bamboo, Silver Birch & Spruce, we got to work bringing batch one to market in November 2016.

Launching KURO was a much anticipated moment in the journey, from our Japanese adventure and all the hard work that followed.

We made a splash with an awesome launch party in Manchester. We had many notable faces in attendance and had the most amazing evening. It was a true moment of accomplishment for us and one we won’t forget in hurry.

Since launching we have been lucky enough to receive a number of globally recognised, industry awards for both taste and design.

Most notably was out Gold Outstanding in the 2018 IWSC, one of only 3 gins in the world to receive the prestigious award.

Fruity

Following the successful launch of our Signature London Dry, we wanted to broaden our offering to reflect the diverse experience we had in Japan.

So we developed and released a limited edition range of flavoured gins to compliment our signature gin. Soft Peach Gin and Cherry Blossom Gin were the first releases from the KURO Seasons range.

Beyond our

Shores

We are a brand founded on adventure and travel, so to only be available in the UK just didn’t make sense.

We are delighted that gin lovers all over the world are able to enjoy KURO just like we do in the UK, in fact we sell more gin in Scandinavia than we do in the UK.

Putting down

Roots

In 2020 when most were battening down the hatches. we made the bold move to begin work on our own distillery in Cheshire.

Located on the prestigious Capesthorne Hall Estate in rural Cheshire, we found ourselves setting up shop in a 17th Century Farm in an old corn bin, barn building.

Now boasting a 400l still full production line and licensed bar on premises we aim to become one of the best know producers of artisan spirits in Cheshire and beyond.
